Joel "Mack" Matthew Thorne

Joel Matthew Thorne October 14, 1934 – July 22, 2019 Joel “Mack” Thorne, 84 of Elm City passed away Monday.  His funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Graveside service will be held at noon on Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Rev. Barry Drum will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mack was a Scout Master for over fifty years for Troop 332 and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his dedicated leadership and service.  He was also in the Order of the Arrow.  Mack was involved with Animal Rescue for over fifty years. Joel is survived by his wife, Judy Gay Thorne; son, Tony Matthew Thorne and wife, Pam of Wilson and Timothy Roland Thorne of Wilson; daughter, Audrey Thorne Brewer and husband, Jim of Greenville; step-son, Jimmy Webb and wife, Judy of Lucama and his grandchildren, Erin, Tyler, Alexis, Madison and Amber.
