John Page Braswell September 2, 1968 – October 30, 2018 John Page Braswell of Wilson was a beloved husband, son, brother, in-law and a friend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 30 at Wake Medical Center at the age of fifty. His funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 311 W. Nash Street, Wilson. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City. The Associate Pastor Daniel Heath will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of Allison and Jason Taylor or the Braswell home of Elm City. John was born September 2, 1968 in Wilson. He graduated from Greenfield Academy in 1986. John attended Louisburg College and went on to graduate from Barton College in 1992 with a degree in Business. He worked with his father and brother in the car business for many years. John found his passion in later years in art and antiques that he parlayed into a viable business which provided him many years of hard work, good friends and some fun. He was a hard worker and he left this earth working hard. John was a loving husband, son and good friend. His love, kindness and sense of humor will be sorely missed. John is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Mary Hope Stallings Braswell of the home; mother, Ann Page Braswell of Elm City; sister, Lee Ann Braswell Funk and husband, Allan of Galax, Virginia; his in-laws who loved him as a son, Gene and Nancy Stallings of La Grange; his nephews, Joshua Merritt, Katie Merritt, Will Lane and Austin Lane all of Snow Hill and Edward Jessup Taylor of Wilson; nieces, Mary Katherine Bopp of South Carolina, Anna Funk of California, Sarah Ann Braswell and Elizabeth Taylor all of Wilson; his sisters-in-law, Allison Stallings Taylor and husband, Jason of Wilson, and Leigh Ann Braswell of Wilson and Jeannie Stallings Lane of Snow Hill and his dearly loved pets, a spunky pup named Finely and Charlie, the newest feline companion. He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Braswell, Jr. who passed away January of 2004 and his brother, James “Jim” Vance Braswell who passed in October of 2004.
