John Marshall Brock

John Marshall Brock, 87 of Middlesex passed away Saturday. The family will receive friends 5 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A private service will be held in Ocracoke at a late date. Marshall was born to Marshall Brock, Sr. and Jenny Griggs Brock in Currituck County. He served with the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After serving in the military, he moved to Bailey and worked with Parson Motor Company until the he started Brock’s Service Center in early 60’s, along with many other business interests. In 1980 he retired from Brocks Service Center to pursue his true passion, and built CHawk Boats until his retirement. Marshall’s love of boating and fishing took him and Sue too many wonderful places. Their most loved was Ocracoke, where they were embraced and well loved by the natives. Marshall was a member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge, The Sudan Temple in New Bern, and a charter member of the Bailey Fire Department and was very active member of his community. April 11, 2011, Marshall was honored to take part in The Triangle Flight of Honor for World War II Veterans. Marshall is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sue Lassiter Brock; his children, Martha Brock, Lee Brock and wife, Rebecca and Susan Brock Ward and husband, Mack; his four grandsons, his granddaughter; five great-grandchildren and his sister, Ann Duke. He was preceded in death by his son, John Marshall Brock III; his parents, his brother, Clayton Brock and his sister, Doris Brock Mallard. The family request no flowers or food, but to honor Marshall they ask memorials to be made to the Wake County Hospice, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or to a charity of one’s choice.
