John “Doug” Douglas Brown, 87 of Bailey passed away Friday, January 31, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in Bailey Town Cemetery. Rev. Ricky Anderson will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Bailey Methodist Church, 12437 Green Street, Bailey.
Doug was a farmer, a retired rural mail carrier with the Bailey Postal Service, and he worked in the Detention Center with the Wilson County Sheriffs office. He was a member of the Masonic Rogers Lodge 525, the Wrecking Crew and WCS Club with the Shriners and Royal Order of Jesters. If you knew Doug, then you know he never missed a friend’s funeral. Doug was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Sheila Glover and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Rob Glover and wife, Kaitlin, and Meredith Lamm and husband, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Anna-Claire Lamm, Harrison Lamm, and Tate Glover, and the mother of his daughter, Annaleen Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C. Arthur Brown and Ruby Liles Brown; sisters, Marjorie Finch and Rose Tilley, and his brothers, B.W. Brown, James E. Brown, Charles A. Brown, William L. Brown and Frank Brown.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and to his special loving nurse, Kayla Curatolo, along with Meagann Spivey, Erica Burns and Janice Clark for their care and compassion given to Doug.
