John Edward Raynor

John Edward Raynor, 63, of Wilson, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016. John was born in Oxford on November 13, 1952. He was the son of the late William and Catherine Raynor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Raynor Watson.
He is survived by his loving wife, of thirty-seven years, Teri Raynor; daughter, Maggie Taylor, and husband, Corey; son, Kent Raynor, and wife, Melanie, all of Wilson. John’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Caleb (7), Ella (5), Owen (3), and Brooklynn (1). He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Raynor, and wife, Kaye of Oxford; brothers-in-law, Tubby Watson of Oxford, and Carl Holland of Kinston; father-in-law, Carl “Pee Wee” Holland of Kinston, and special nieces, Nicole Raynor Duke and Amy Raynor Powell. John’s special friends, Jackie Whitley, Joey Ellis, Phil Farmer, Carlyle Smith, Johnnie Davis and Tony Bradshaw will serve as pallbearers.
John graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1975. He worked at Voith Fabrics for thirty-two years. After retiring in 2007, John enjoyed working at Ace Hardware, Puddle’s Car Wash, and in “John’s Workshop.” He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. John was a faithful member and servant at First Free Will Baptist Church.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson with the family receiving friends immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 24, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Richard Cuddington, Rev. Doug Radford and Rev. Dr. Billy Toler will officiate.
