“Mr. Jack” passed on December 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. He was a gallant fighter who passed at home surrounded by loving family. His memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. He leaves his wife of fifty-two years, Kathryn Lanaghan Rowe of the home. His daughter, Stephanie Rowe Lalli (Mike) of Florida; his sons, Shaun Rowe (Elizabeth DeBerry) of Wilson, Chris Rowe (Tanya Verrinder) of Wendell and Thom Rowe (Gloria Bass) of Wilson; his grandchildren, Danielle, Evan and Reghan Griffith, Chase Langley, Amethyest (Amie) Rowe, Patrick Rowe, Claire Rowe, Brittany and Garrett Rowe; his sisters, Janice Rowe Plante (Bill), Charlotte Rowe Bambic (Ric), Cheryl Rowe Wells (Scott) and Kim Rowe Beveridge (Jack); his many nieces and nephews and his constant and faithful canine companion, Zeke. He was preceded in death by parents, Cleo and John W. Rowe. “Mr. Jack” retired from “Jacks Friendly Mart” only when he became too ill to continue. He and “Zeke” ran the store with Jack’s special kindness. Many of the grandchildren got their first work opportunities under Pap Pap’s care. He taught them his work ethic and showed them how to treat all people. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to your local “No Kill Shelter” or to 3HC Hospice, www.3hc.org.
