Johnie Mitchell Dew January 28, 1944 – July 28, 2018 Johnie Mitchell Dew, 74, of Raleigh passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, a retired firefighter for the city of Raleigh. The visitation will be Thursday, August 2, 2018, from 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. at White Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 3967 W. Hornes Church Road, Bailey with his funeral service following at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey. The Rev. David Dew will officiate. Johnie is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Bess Watkins Dew of the home; daughter, Michelle Dew Peaden and husband, Lyman of Pikeville; son, Jonathan Mitchell Dew and wife, Christina of Raleigh; granddaughter Lauren Noel Lewis and husband, Spencer of Ft. Bragg; grandsons, Mitchell Harrison Mills of Raleigh and Dawson Lyman Peaden of Pikeville; great-granddaughter, Skylar Lewis; great-grandson, Charles “Charlie” Duncan Lewis; brother, Garry Dew and wife, Brenda of Bailey; sister-in-law, Billie Dew of Winston Salem; brother-in-law, Guy Macon Watkins of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Duncan Dew and Nona Marie High Dew and his brother, Vernon “Dick” Dew.
