Johnnie Alton Ferrell, 75, passed away on Saturday, April 29.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1 at 6:30 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  Interment will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 2:00 pm at the Ferrell Family Cemetery, Morning Side Road in Wilson, NC.  Family will receive friends at Joyner’s Funeral Home on Monday, May 1 immediately following the funeral service.  Reverend Jerome Mozingo and Reverend Daniel Taylor will officiate.

 

Johnnie was a volunteer at the Black Creek Station 5 Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years.  He was a trusted and respected employee in the LP gas service, at Southern States, and retired from Deans Oil & Gas.  Johnnie was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

 

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Crumpler Ferrell; daughters, Beverley Bailey and husband, Chris and Wendy Waddell and husband, Greg; son-in-law, Rodney Mooring; sister, Janette Littleton; grandchildren, Chad Mooring, C.J. Bailey and wife, Rebecca, Lindsey Edmondson, Brittany Bailey, Rylee Edmondson; step-grandchild, Bonny Parker and husband, Lee; great-grandchild, Mason Day; three step-great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Janet Flowers; and numerous other in-laws, nieces and nephews.

 

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Eva Mae Ferrell; daughter, Michelle Ferrell Mooring; and step-grandson, Cannon Hinnant.
