Johnny Bailey March 10, 1949 – March 30, 2021 Johnny Bailey, 72, of Wilson passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, after a long illness. Johnny was born March 10, 1949 in Erwin, Tennessee. He was the son of James B. Bailey of Erwin, Tennessee and Alice G. Tilton Bailey of Milton, New Hampshire who had predeceased him. He attended schools in Erwin, Tennessee and Milton, New Hampshire and he worked as s a carpenter and a professional painter. Johnny was a free spirit and loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping and fishing, he could always be found with a fishing pole and canoe nearby. He lived in many places including Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, and New Hampshire. But his favorite place was Erwin, Tennessee. Johnny had fond memories of growing up in Erwin, spending time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He was a long-time member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church. He leaves behind his companion of eighteen years, Judith Irwin, of Wilson; his children, Gina Lussier of Rochester, New Hampshire, Cory Bailey of Claremont, New Hampshire, Melissa Babcock of Colorado Springs, Colorado, David Bailey of Claremont, New Hampshire and Gary Bailey of Boscawen, New Hampshire; twelve grandchildren; his sisters, Faye Stevens of Middleton, New Hampshire and Gloria Brooks of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in April at Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 2833 Tilghman Road, Wilson, and plague will be placed in the Prayer Garden in his memory. His cremains will be scattered at his beloved place, the Beauty Spot in Unicoi, Tennessee. Pastor David Barnes will officiate.
