Joseph Miley Godwin
December 22, 1949 – July 21, 2020
Joseph “Big Joe” Miley Godwin, 70 of Wilson passed away Tuesday. His funeral will be held 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson. The Rev. Rusty Russell and Rev. Brian Tippett will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Joe was the owner and operator of Statewide Sheetmetal and Roofing for forty years. He was a member of Peace Church, an avid golfer and UNC Tarheel Fan. Joe loved Jesus Christ and all his church family and his home away home of Willow Springs Country Club.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Cynthia \"Granberry\" Godwin of the home; son, Jimmi Joe Godwin and wife, Lisa of Charlotte; granddaughters, Reese Godwin and Caroline Howell; grandsons, Ethan Godwin, Kenan Howell and Cooper Howell; sisters, Joan Brantley and husband, William of Rocky Mount and Brenda Anderson and husband, Reid of Wilson; son-in-law, Kenny Howell of Wilson and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bridgette Howell; parents, William and Lessie Earp Godwin; sisters, Annie Lee, Ernestine and Minnie Susan and his brothers, Larry, Jimmy, Walter, Bobby and Kenneth.
