Joseph Daniel Boykin
July 12, 1943 – December 23, 2016
Joseph Daniel “JD” or “Bubby” Boykin, 73, of Rocky Mount passed away Friday. His funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. A military service will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
JD was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him. He served his country with honor and pride with the US Army in the 82nd Airborne, during the Vietnam War. JD was an expert sharp shooter with pistols, rifles, and machine guns. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans of William Pender Camp of Wilson. JD was a member of the Montgomery Blue’s and Reilly’s Battery re-enactment.
JD is survived by his wife, Jennifer Barnes Boykin of Rocky Mount; his son, Ronnie Joe Boykin and friend, Amy Summerlin of Lucama; his granddaughter, Kayla Nicole Boykin, and his adopted grandchildren, Daniel Medford and Victoria Medford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
