Joseph Edgar Renfrow November 10, 1929 – January 10, 2018 Joseph Edgar Renfrow, 88, of Kenly passed away Wednesday. His funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January in Moore’s Chapel Church Cemetery, Hwy 42 East, Kenly. The Rev. Lewis Godwin will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Edgar was a graduate of Glendale High School and earned his undergraduate degree at Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) and his Master’s degree at East Carolina University. Edgar was a teacher in several schools in Johnston County, New York, and Broughton High School in Raleigh and enjoyed coaching basketball and baseball. Following his teaching career , Edgar became a full time farmer until retiring in the early 90’s. Edgar is survived by his son, Joseph Allen Renfrow and wife, Jinna P. of Leonardtown, Maryland; his grandson, Robert P. Renfrow of Leonardtown, Maryland; sisters, Edith Creech of Richmond, Virginia, and Faye McDonald and husband, Harrison of San Diego, California, and his brothers, Fredrick Renfrow and wife, Georgia of Greensboro, Hilton Renfrow and wife, Phyllis of Kenly, and Aaron Renfrow of Swansboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Rochelle Allen Renfrow; his parents, James Vester Renfrow and Delia Lewis Renfrow, and sisters, Daisy Renfrow Radford and Clyda Renfrow Rheney. In Edgar’s honor, memorials may be directed to Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church, 5835 Black Creek Road, Smithfield, North Carolina 27577.
