Judith Barnes Benson
July 30, 1940 – July 27, 2021
Judith “Judy” Barnes Benson passed away Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson with the family receiving friends following the service in the cemetery. Rev. LaVon Phillips will officiate.
Judy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found much joy in helping others. She had a passion for mission work and the mission field, her love of the Lord was her fuel for each. She will be remembered with wonderful memories.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Mollie Benson Dorsey and husband, David of Wilson; sons, Thomas “Tom” W. Benson and wife, Kim of Wilson, and Jeffrey “Jeff” Gray Benson and wife, Sandy of Wilson; granddaughters, Katelyn Gray Hawkins and husband, Chris, Lacey Benson Hantho, Madison Gray Benson, Virginia Benson Rabil and husband, Joey, and Mary Benson Dennis and husband, Jack; grandsons, Jacob Gray Benson and wife, Katie, and David Thomas Benson and wife, Emily; twelve great-grandchildren; step grandsons, Adrian Taylor of Clayton and John Taylor of Nashville, Tennessee, and her brother, Edward Gray Barnes, Jr. of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Franklin Ward Benson and her parents, Edward Gray and Virginia Walls Barnes.
