Katye Barnes Godwin
April 23, 1937 - March 28, 2015
Katye Barnes Godwin, 77, of Wilson, passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Black Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Barnes will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, and other times at the residence.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann Narron of Elm City; three sons, Donald Godwin and wife, Patsy of Stantonsburg, Gene Godwin and wife, Shannon of Black Creek, and Thomas Godwin and wife, Hope of Wilson; three granddaughters, Dawn Osborne and husband, Jason of Elm City, Marybeth Godwin of Wilson, and Nada Godwin and fiancé, Alex Herrera of Wilson; a grandson, Hunter Godwin of Wilson; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Osborne of Elm City; a great-grandson, Zachary Osborne of Elm City; two sisters, Edna Proctor of Lucama and Dorothy Thorne of Black Creek; four brothers, Joseph “Snapper” Barnes of Wilson, Bobby Barnes of Saratoga, Ray Barnes of Black Creek, and Jim “Ham Bone” Barnes of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonza and Mary Olivia Batts Barnes, two sisters, Helen ”Kitty” Barnes and Mildred “Tib” May, two brothers, Billy ”Turkey” Barnes and Pete Barnes, and a son-in-law, David Narron.
