King David Peacock

King “David” Peacock, 89, of Kenly passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at WilMed Nursing Care Center. A funeral service will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Antioch Church Cemetery, 8940 NC 39 Hwy, Middlesex. His nephew Donnie Mitchell will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service Tuesday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of his daughter, Sue. David was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to all that knew him. He was greatly loved and will be missed. David was a lifetime carpenter and builder by trade, his interest in architecture influenced both his son and grandchildren. Those who knew David, knew he did not hesitate to share his lifelong accomplishments. He maintained a strong work ethic throughout his entire life. He was “great” by all standards whether building a commercial building, a first home for a family or playing baseball with “the best”. David was a proud man, he was proud of his trade, his family and his strong faith. He smiled when bragging often about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Prior to retirement he was employed with Daniel Construction Company. David is survived by his daughter, Sue Peacock Barnes of Kenly; his granddaughters, Robin Barnes Bunn and husband, Turner of Buckhorn, Donna Barnes Dixon and husband, Chris of Winston-Salem and Lisa Michelle Peacock of Greenville; his grandson, David Larry Peacock, Jr. of Kenly; his great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Ellen Bunn, Cappa Suzanne Bunn, Dorothy “Dottie” Barnes Dixon and Jenna Berry Peacock; his great-grandsons, Van Clayton Dixon, Garrett David Peacock and Zachary “Zach” Jackson Peacock and his sister, Doris Peacock Love of Kenly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mitchell Peacock; his son, David Larry Peacock; his parents, Jack and Ella Peacock; his son-in-law, Donald Mack Barnes; his sisters, Daisy Peacock Whaley and Glennie Peacock Bogart and his brothers, Alvin, Calvin, Johnny and Jimmy Peacock. The family would like to express their thanks to all the staff at WilMed Nursing Care Center.
