Larry Clifton Dorsett
March 15, 1939 – July 14, 2021
Larry Clifton Dorsett was born March 15, 1939 in Lexington, North Carolina. He passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, after a lengthy illness peacefully at his home.
He attended Wake Forest University and enlisted in the United States Air Force after college. After discharged he entered into the profession of commercial fire protection with High Point Sprinkler Company. As his career progressed a position with Worsham Sprinkler Company took he and his family to Virginia. During his time with Worsham Sprinkler, he and a friend opened ProCon Construction Company. He returned to the fire protection industry with VSC Corporation where he became an owner/partner. Shortly before his retirement and the beginning of his illness he wanted to move to Wilson County to be near his wife’s family which brought him back to North Carolina.
He loved the game of golf and would have played everyday if he could have. He did manage to play at least three or four times a week and had great fun playing as many different golf courses as possible throughout the United States.
He was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church which he dearly loved and loved his church family.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Wilson Dorsett and his mother, Thelma Estelle Byrd Hostettler.
Larry is survived by his wife, Brenda Eatmon Dorsett of forty-three years; sons, Kevin Dale Joyner (Michelle) and Rodney John Joyner (Angelia); his grandchildren, Tiffani Brooke Joyner, Jared Michael Joyner and Jacob Eatmon Joyner, and his sister, Carol Elizabeth Diggs along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family wishes to extend great gratitude for the care and kindness given by those at Community Home Care and Hospice to Larry and the family also extends great appreciation to the Seymour Johnson Air Force Honor Guard for providing Military Funeral Honors in recognition of Larry’s service to his country.
Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.
The family will receive friends at the home, Friday, July 16, 2021 and following the service on Saturday.
