Larry Wayne Jones, 58 of Wilson passed away Tuesday in an automobile accident on the morning of March 4, 2014.  Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he was the son of Veronia and Valder Jones.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Fern Jones. In 1974, Larry began a long and successful career in the manufacturing and packaging industry.  He moved to Wilson in 1989 as a production supervisor at Alton Box Board Company, and was quickly promoted to the role of Production Manager of the Wilson plant.  At the time of his death, Larry was working as the Site Manager for International Paper in Warrenton, North Carolina.  He recently received an award in recognition for leading the most improved manufacturing plant for International Paper. Highly respected by the numerous employees who worked under his leadership, Larry was known to be honest, loyal, dependable, and fair not only among his employees but also among the customers he served.  His skills and knowledge will be greatly missed within the packaging industry. Larry’s greatest joys in life were the times spent with his wife and children, whether in their home or at the beach, on the community’s athletic fields, or attending the numerous activities in which his children participated in their schools, Larry was a loving husband and wonderful father, always present and so very proud of his children’s accomplishments. In addition to Larry’s wife Fern, he is also survived by his children: a daughter, Ayla who is a student at UNC Wilmington, and three sons, Kane, who is attending Wilson Community College, and Storm and Chance of the home.  He is also survived by daughters, April Jones and Amy Jones Diatikar and husband, Erik; and two granddaughters, Kailey and Hayden Diatikar all of Nashville, Tennessee.  He is survived by brothers, Bob Jones and Charlie Jones and a sister, Louise Jones Qualls. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Jones Barrett and brothers, James Jones, Pete Jones, and Jerry Jones. The family will receive friends 4 – 6 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Larry W.
