Larry Richard Joyner, Jr.
January 13, 1942 – April 28, 2019
Larry Richard Joyner, Jr., 77, of Wilson passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at home with his loving and devoted family by his side.
Larry was the son of Richard and Dorothy “Dot” Joyner and the grandson, of Askew C. Joyner, Sr. and Nora Farmer Joyner. Larry was born on January 13, 1942 in Wilson.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge on September 30, 1966.
Larry is survived by his loving, devoted and best friend, Janie Hill Joyner to whom he was married for fifty-eight years as of July 9, 2019; son, Dean Joyner of Wilson and daughter, Staci Joyner (Becky), as well as Abbie, Minni and Art, his precious grand-dogs. His brother, Bobby and wife, Madge Joyner and many special nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, Jackie Hill and wife, Jewel O. Hill as well as sisters-in-law, Elaine Hill and Barbara Hill.
Larry spent his entire life’s occupation at Joyner’s Memorial Inc., the family business for four generations as a very dedicated employee and eventually sole owner and operator. Dean is now taking over the business for his dad.
We will always see a part of Larry in his many endeavors of design and erection of War Memorials, Grave Monuments and Historical Monuments all over Eastern North Carolina.
Larry had a deep love of boating and salt water fishing. When he arrived at their beach condo his first words were, “Let me see if my water is still here”. Many good memories were made there to cherish.
A private family burial will be held a later date.
