Larry Dale Speight October 27, 1952 - November 21, 2018 Larry Dale Speight, beloved father, papa, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many passed away at his home Wednesday, November 21st. Larry was born in Stantonsburg to the late Haywood and Mary Denton Speight. After their untimely passing, he was raised by his maternal grandparents, the late Paul and Hattie Denton. Larry was a graduate of Saratoga Central High School and attended Southwood Junior College and East Carolina University. He was an avid sportsman in both his high school years and college years. Number 61 in your roster, number 1 in your heart! Larry was the ultimate “cheese head” and an uncompromising Green Bay Packers Fan. Go PACK Go! While he excelled in careers at Bridgestone Firestone and as an all-around jack of all trades, he will always be remembered for his selfless devotion to his family and friends. Larry is survived by his daughters, Carrie Jo Speight and Cristen Leora Konewko (Jonathan) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Rhiannon Danielle Childress of Winston Salem; sister, Mary Ann Cooper of Wilson; brothers, Clarence Speight of Wilson and Dennis Speight of Saratoga; grandsons, Blaine and Bennett Konewko. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A service of remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 25th at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
