LaVerne Bissette Hill
September 7, 1942 – November 25, 2019
LaVerne Bissette Hill, 77 of Lucama passed away Monday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Steve Strickland and Rev. David Kriger will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1- 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Robin.
LaVerne was a member of St. Mary’s FWB Church and Democratic Women of Wilson County. She loved solving puzzles, movies, The Young and The Restless and Leo, her beloved cat. LaVerne retired from the DMV Licensing Department of Raleigh after twenty-two years of devoted service.
LaVerne is survived by her daughters, Holly H. Strickland and husband, Rev. Steve of Wilson and Robin H. Batts and husband, Keith of Elm City; granddaughters, Elaini Batts and Rosie Strickland; grandson, Josh Batts; sister, Phyllis Shuler of Virginia Beach, Virginia and her brother, Linwood Bissette of Fuquay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Ransom “W.R.” Hill and her parents, David Hubert and Beatrice Wall Bissette.
