Leonard Earl Griffin
October 24, 1925 – July 27, 2017
Leonard Earl Griffin, 91, of Elm City passed away Thursday. His funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Macclesfield Cemetery. Pastor Johnny Hendricks will officiate.
The family will receive friends 1:30 – 2:15 Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of his daughter, Sherry.
Leonard retired from Donnelley Marketing in 1991 and was a member of American Legion Post 153. Leonard served his country with honor and pride with U.S. Navy.
Leonard is survived by his daughters, Sherry Griffin Ussery and husband, Stuart of Elm City and Lynn Griffin Barnes of Wilson; sons, Thomas Earl Griffin and wife, Julia of Wilson and Leonard Christopher Griffin and wife, Diane of Elm City; grandchildren, Ashley Duke and husband, Connor of Winterville, Shaun Griffin, Shane Griffin, Cheryl Barnes and Sonya Barnes all of Wilson; six great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lois Bryan of Mount Olive, Flora Bass of Goldsboro and Libby Moore of Indian Trail; brothers, Tom Griffin of Elm City, Grady Griffin and wife, Loretta of Rocky Mount and George (Bud) Griffin and wife Jenny of Goldsboro; twenty-eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Bridgers Griffin; grandsons, Dale and Phillip; parents, Stephen Earl and Mabel Morrison Griffin; brothers, Morrison, Paul, Bill and Clyde Griffin.
