Lida Grey Bissette Blalock, 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 1. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 2:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Reverend Kelley Smart will officiate.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6 from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home.
Lida graduated from the Woodard Herring School of Nursing and received a B.S. in Nursing from Atlantic Christian College. She served the community faithfully during her career as a nurse, including school and public health nursing. She assisted in developing the Home Health Nursing Program for Wilson County. She retired from the Wilson County Health Department as the WIC Director, at age 87, after 53 years of service.
Lida is survived by her sons, Ralph Blalock, Jr. and wife, Carol of Lucama, David Blalock and wife, Denise of Wilson, and Erick Blalock and wife, Debbie of Wilson; grandchildren, Cassie Blalock Denham, Ryan Blalock and wife, Ashley, Collin Blalock and wife, Ashley, Amy Blalock, and Andrew Blalock and wife, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Gatlin Denham, Alaina Blalock, and Ryder Blalock; and brother, Don Bissette and wife, Judy.
Lida was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Euguene Blalock, Sr. and her parents, Zack Connor Bissette and Gennie Boykin Bissette.
