Linwood Dean Cates
January 21, 1943 – June 12, 2017
Linwood “Tadpole” Cates, 74, of Wilson passed away Monday. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. LaVon Phillips will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30 – 9:00 Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Linwood was the owner/operator of Wilson Starter and Generator since 1961.
Linwood is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Cates; daughter, Dawn Cates Worrell and husband, Greg of Sims; son, Roger Cates and wife, Nancy of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Jeany Flythe and husband, James of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Edna Earl Manning of Simpson; brother, Carlton Thomas Cates and wife, Barbara of Greenville; grandchildren, Danyel Cates and partner, Liz, Tabitha Cates, Kendall Cates and wife, Maranda, Bryson Worrell, Nicholas Worrell, Cassidy Goff, Justin Crisp and wife, Ashley; ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Royce Goff and a great-granddaughter, Autumn Cates.
