Lou Ann Best Howell Carpenter

Lou Carpenter, 84, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 11 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh.  Dr. Jeff Roberts will officiate. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at Trinity Baptist Church.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Lou was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed time with family and friends.  She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and loved playing bridge with her many friends.  She also loved spending time at the beach.

Lou is survived by her daughters, Nancy Howell Glover and her husband, Jimmy of Bailey and Cindy Howell Squires of Urbanna, VA; grandchildren, Jay Glover and his wife, Brittany, Jonathan Glover, Jeremy Glover, Marshall Squires, and Jackson Squires and his wife, Sovanny Squires; and great-grandsons, Ethan Glover, Carson Glover, and Welles Glover.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Wilda Best; her first husband, John H. Howell; her second husband, S. Marvin Carpenter; and her brothers, Donald Best and Dean Best.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shauna Tharpe and her staff at Serenity Falls Family Care Home and Transitions Hospice Care for their care and compassion.
