Louis Ray Whitman, Sr. January 5, 1947 – May 30, 2016 Louis Ray Whitman, Sr., 69, of Lucama passed away Monday. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Pastor Cathy Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Louis is survived by his wife, Christine Ferrell Whitman of the home; his daughter; Tammy Marie Aycocke and husband, David of Lucama; his son, Louis Ray Whitman, Jr. and wife, Susan of Lucama; his grandchildren, Logan and Austin Whitman, Aurthur Joseph Aycocke, and Jessica Christine Aycocke all of Lucama; sisters, Catherine Barfield and husband, Charlie of Seaboard, Barbara Fisher of Seven, Evelyn Jordan and husband, Jerry of Durham, and Judy Whitman of Elm City; his brother, Thomas Whitman and wife, Melba of Middlesex, and his cherished pets, Polly Bell and Missy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Louis Whitman and Ruby Holland Whitman; sister, Lillie Mae Duffy and brother, Robert Earl Whitman.
