Luke Ryan Brantley
August 6, 2016
Luke Ryan was born into this world as a sleeping angel on Saturday, August 6, 2016 to his parents, Jerry and Shannon Brantley.
Luke was diagnosed with Bilateral Renal Agenesis, or Potter\'s Syndrome at twenty weeks gestation, and with Jerry\'s love and support, Shannon chose to carry out her pregnancy with Luke; even though it would prove to be a difficult one, in hopes of giving him a fighting chance at life. She carried Luke for thirty-six weeks. She felt him move, learned what foods he favored and even what songs he liked to hear. Jerry and Shannon stayed hopeful throughout this journey, praying everyday that Luke would be a miracle baby. In the end, God had bigger plans for Luke. God needed a special angel, so now Luke gets to live out his perfect life, in his perfect forever home with Jesus. He will never know the negative things of this world; he will only know love and happiness.
In addition to his parents, Luke is also survived by his big brother, Chase Brantley and his big sister, Brianna Brantley, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Donnie and Brenda Webb of Wilson; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Jodi Brantley of Wilson, and James and Dolores Nordan of Bessemer City; great-grandparents, Fred and Fran Alt of Wilson, and several uncles, aunts, cousins and special friends, whom we consider family.
Jerry and Shannon would like to give special thanks to Dr. Hanson, his nurses, Angie and Brittany, and all of the staff at Wilson OBGYN. A huge thank you to the labor and delivery staff at Wilson Medical Center, especially Carrie, Brenda, Judy and Sarah, plus to our nurses on 2 east, Mary and Brittany, we are forever grateful.
A celebration of Luke’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the chapel of Joyner\'s Funeral Home, Wilson. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the Upper Black Creek Church Cemetery, Lucama.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening immediately follow the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
