Lynn Arthur Christensen July 9, 1950 – June 20, 2015 Lynn Arthur Christensen, 64, of Wilson, went home to the Lord on Saturday, June 20. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A service will be held following the visitation. The Rev. Billy Carlyle will officiate. Interment will be in the Nevada Cemetery, Iowa at a later date. Lynn was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa on July 9, 1950 to Nadine (White) Christensen and the late Irvin Lloyd Christensen. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1968 and earned his AAS degree from Iowa State University in 1972. Later he attended the Illinois Institute of Technology. Lynn was a member of the ROTC and the Pershing Rifles while at Iowa State University. He had an avid interest in music and sciences. Lynn married his childhood sweetheart, Vicki Lee Appelgate, in 1971 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. He worked in Engineering Research and Development for Donnelley Marketing for twenty-nine years, transferring from Nevada, Iowa to Oak Brook, Illinois and then to Elm City. He continued his engineering career with Bridgestone-Firestone of Wilson for an additional eleven years. Lynn was known by many as Brother Lynn. He loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. Lynn served in many ministries at First Assembly of God/Rock Assembly of God in Wilson after rededicating his life to the Lord in 1991. Lynn always welcomed you a heartfelt hug and he was a caring and compassionate man. Lynn is survived by his loving mother, Nadine Christensen of Nevada, Iowa; his devoted wife, Vicki Christensen; his daughter, Wendy Watson and husband, Allen; his two sons, Ryan Christensen and wife, Summer, and Donald Christensen, and his three grandchildren, Harrison Watson, Nathaniel Watson, and Rachel Watson all of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Christensen, and his father, Irvin Lloyd Christensen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rock Assembly of God, 2901 Tilghman Road, Wilson, North Carolina, 27893. Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
