Margaret Ann Yates

Margaret Ann Yates, 81 of Wilson, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.

Ms. Yates was born on June 25, 1943, in Walker County, Alabama to the late Woodrow Wilson Yates and Barbara Janette Landrum Yates.

Born into a military family, she spent her whole life serving her country. She was a Human Rights Monitor with the Department of State (that took her on many travels all over the world), a Secret Service agent for President Ronald Reagan, and she was a retired First Sargeant in The United States Marine Corp.

A private service and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, George Diering, III; and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; brother Richard Woodrow Yates; and sister, Barbara Diering.
