Maria Esther Raya

Maria Esther Raya, 90, passed away surrounded by her loved ones. The mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at St. Therese, 700 Nash Street E, Wilson. Priest Fr. Archie M. Tacay will officiate.  Interment will follow in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey.

The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Monday evening, February 6, 2023 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Esther was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed and remembered by all the lovely memories she left behind.

She is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Martha Salazar, Ana Salazar, Alicia Guerra, Maria E. Guerra, Olivia Garcia, Martha Raya, Antonio Raya, Manuel Raya, Hipolito Raya, Roberto Raya, Jesus Raya, Rogelio Raya and Alfredo Raya; eighty-four grandchildren; one-hundred seventy-six great-grandchildren and thirty-six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jesus Raya, parents Jose Ledesma and Delfina Toran and eight of her siblings.
