Marshall Barnes Pope June 5, 1934 – May 1, 2017 Marshall Barnes Pope, 82 of Wilson passed away Monday. His funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Elder Harold Pittman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the residence. He served his country faithfully and honorably with the U.S. Army. Marshall was retired from Carolina Telephone Company/Sprint after forty years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all that knew him.  Marshall was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, he will be remembered with memories that will make you smile and warm the heart. Marshall is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Jean Brown Pope of the home; his daughter, Kathy Pope Gallant and husband, Richard of Daniel Island, South Carolina; his son, Marshall Brent Pope and wife, Sherry of Midlothian, Virginia; his grandson, Andrew Gallant; granddaughters, Mary Marshall Kunicki and husband, David, and Katherine Pope Andrews and husband, Derek; great-grandson, Talon Andrews, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Raymond and Agnes Stancil Pope, and his four siblings, Frances Pope Johnson, Charles Ray Pope, Henry C. Pope, and Raymond Eugene Pope. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in Marshall’s honor to the Pennies from Angels, Regional Medical Oncology Center, 2624 Ortho Drive, Wilson, North Carolina 27893 or SECE Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, North Carolina 27577.
