Martha Rae Tant

August 8, 1943 – November 19, 2014

Martha Rae Tant, 71, of Middlesex passed away Wednesday.  Her funeral will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday at White Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 3967 W. Hornes Church Road, Bailey.    The graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the Morgan Family Cemetery.  The Rev. Reuben Cason will officiate.   The family will receive friends Friday evening immediately following the service at White Oak Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home.   Martha was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a member of White Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church for thirty-six years.  Martha enjoyed visiting the sick and nursing homes and was involved with the outreach ministries.   Martha is survived by her son, Michael L. Tant and wife, Pam of Middlesex; her daughter, Deidre Tant and husband, Anthony of Bailey; her grandsons, Dalton Tant and David Morgan; her granddaughters, Sidney Tant and Sandy Morgan and her six great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Davis “Bob” Tant; her brothers, Ulus Lamb, Gerald Boykin and Chalmas Boykin and her sister, Linda Clark.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Pruitt Health Hospice, 301 South Church Street, Suite 135, Rocky Mount, NC  27805.   Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
