Marvin Putney Parker, 88, of Wilson passed away Saturday.  Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  The Rev. David Barnes and the Rev. Steve Stevenson will officiate.

 The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:30 Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all that knew him.  He will be truly missed and thought of often with joy.  Marvin was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  He was owner and operator of Parker’s Grocery for 20 years.  Marvin was also a farmer; worked at Murphy Body Works, Recycle Center on Packhouse Road and Dick’s Hot Dogs. Marvin is survived by his daughter, Barbara P. Taylor and husband, James of Wilson; his sons, Donald “Donnie” Allen Parker and wife, Cheryl of FL and Danny Thomas Parker and wife, Gail of LaGrange; his  grandchildren, James Adrian Taylor, Jr., Melissa “Missy” Taylor-Heath, Mary Taylor Murphy, Michael Parker, Jennifer Parker Gunter and Daniel Parker ;  great-grandchildren, Brittany Michelle Williams, Adrianne Necole Turnage, James Adrian Taylor III, David Alan Turnage, John Thomas Taylor, Mackenzie Jordon Turnage, Ryan Marvin Murphy and Avery Hope Parker, and his sisters, Edna Galloway, Ethel Mosley, and Elsie Howard and husband, Ervin all of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Allen Parker in 2008; his sister, Edith Pittman and his brothers, J.R. Parker, Robert Parker and Tom Parker.
