Marvin D. Proctor November 8, 1940 – November 13, 2016 Marvin D. “Mark” Proctor, 76, of Wilson passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. The Rev. Donnie Price will officiate. The family will receive friends 10 – 10:45 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Mark is survived by his son, Kelly Proctor and wife, Katherine of Elm City; his daughters, Nicole Proctor Tompkins and husband, Dan of Wilmington, and Chelsie Nicole Proctor of Greenville; his grandchildren, Emma Jane and Dawson Proctor, and Parks and Sydney Tompkins; his mother, Virginia Owens Proctor of Wilson; his sisters, Jennie P. Closson of Raleigh, and Brenda Davis of Wilson; his brother, Phillip Richard Proctor and wife, Tammy of Wilson, and the mother of his children, Emma Kay Wallace of Elm City. He was preceded in death by his father, Joshua Hicks Proctor, and his brothers, Travis and Donny Proctor. Mark served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He worked at S.T. Wooten Corporation for twenty-seven years where he was Vice President. He co-founded PLT Construction Company and PLT Concrete Services with his friend and business partner, Greg Turnage. PLT began as a small commercial site development construction company and under his leadership opened a heavy highway division, and a Ready Mix concrete division. Mark loved his co-workers and customers, and attributed the company’s success to the wonderful relationships he shared with them. He considered everyone at PLT as part of his family, and he loved them all dearly. Mark loved helping friends and those in need in his community and did so for many people. He was an avid sportsman and especially loved playing golf, riding horses and attending many horse shows. Mark also attended Rosebud Baptist Church and enjoyed his fellowship there. He loved his family and cherished his time with them, especially his grandchildren.
