Mary Alice Jackson Smith

Mrs. Mary Alice Jackson Smith, age 83, a longtime resident of Wilson died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive family and friends Saturday, February 4, from 2:00-2:45 p.m. followed by a Celebration of her life at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Mary Alice was born to the late J.O. “Jack” Jackson and the late Irene Edwards Jackson in Wilson and is survived by her sister Joann Edwards.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith, to whom she was married to for over 55 years. 

Mary Alice was a mother, grandmother, an artist, adored cats and was friends to many.  She was a kind and generous person who enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, pursuing her art projects and cultivating plants and flowers in her yard.

She is remembered lovingly by her three sons and their families; Garland and Stephanie Smith and their daughter, Zoey; Jeffrey Smith and his partner, Deborah Cruz, and Chip and Melinda Smith and their daughters, Molly Smith and Haley Smith Locklear and her sister’s daughters, Alice Hoover and Amie Breeden and innumerable nieces and nephews from the Smith clan, along with many, many dear friends from Wilson and across the country.
