Mary Boehm
August 9, 1930 – January 23, 2020
Mary Boehm, 89, of Wilson, lovingly known as Miss Mary, passed away peacefully at home on January 23. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 30 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Mary will forever be remembered as being a loving mother, grandmother and teacher. She started the First Presbyterian Preschool in Wilson and taught there for many years. It is still a thriving preschool and has expanded through the years. All of her students will remember he by the hand knitted Christmas stockings and Easter baskets they received from her every special season. Mary graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Education. She also attended Lawrence College where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Deborah B. Bedgood (Charlie) of Wilson, and Catherine B. Rice (Greg) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Charlie Bedgood, Connor Bedgood (Sophia) of Wilson, Baker Bedgood of Raleigh, Paul Rice (Shayna) of Asheville, and Harper Rice of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D.P. Boehm; parents, Walter E. and Evelyn H. Hess.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the ladies of the Sunshine Agency for their love and kindness.
