Mary Elizabeth Parker Ferrell

Mary Elizabeth Parker Ferrell 04/19/1929- 08/04/2020 Mary Elizabeth Ferrell of Wilson, also known as Mary Lib, or Lib and by her family as ‘Doodie’ was called home to Jesus in her sleep on August 4, 2020, at the age of ninety-one. She will be forever remembered lovingly by her family and friends. She was also ‘Neanie’ to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all their friends. Mary Lib was the fifth child of ten children born to Melinda Lenora Parker and Harvey Milton Parker. Growing up in the Great Depression her family moved several times. Her favorite times were when the family lived in Little Washington. She fondly recalled many fun times spent on the waterfront and her brothers jumping off the trestle bridge that spanned the Pamlico River. The times were financially tight for the growing family, but they always had chickens and a garden and Granny Parker who was a great cook. Mary Lib attended school in Tarboro and Little Washington, she attended Tarboro High School and then took courses at Atlantic Christian College and at Wilson Technical Institute. She worked many years with Sidney Blumenthal in Rocky Mount and Burlington Mills in Wilson, as a weaver and in quality control. She also worked twenty-seven years at Pax Distributing Company in Wilson. She worked part time at The Medic Home of Wilson which is currently Accordius Health since 1972 as the Receptionist. She was a loyal and devoted employee that loved her work. She was saved by the Grace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as a teenager at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Tarboro and she had a very strong faith. When people would ask her how she lived so long she always told them, ‘clean living’. She leaves many cherished memories to her daughter, Sherry Ferrell Etheridge Zucchi of Wilson; grandson, David Thomas Etheridge of Wilson; daughter- in-law, Judy Joyner Glasgow of California; grandsons, Shawn Paul Glasgow (Vanessa) and Matthew Thomas Glasgow (Alia) both of California; great-grandchildren, Emma Ann Etheridge and Owen Etheridge and their mother, Angel Formo Etheridge all of Wilson, Kainoa Paul Glasgow, Chase Parker Glasgow, Kenyon James Glasgow, Kellen Thomas Glasgow, Payton Lilly Glasgow, Kendall Ruth Glasgow, and Bryce Penny Glasgow all of Carpinteria, California; nieces, Kitty Tew Hastedt of Gloucester, Virginia, Alice Kay Tew Robbins of Norfolk, Virginia, Sue Parker Everhart of Marietta, Georgia, and Jill Stacy Parker Sumberg of New Hartford, New York; nephews, Joseph Parker of Penfield, New York, Robert Alan Parker, Jr. of Midlothian, Virginia, and Barton Meeks of Raleigh and a large number of great nieces and great nephews, cousins, friends, young and old that love her and will never forget her impact on them. Mary Lib was well known for taking her grandson, David Etheridge and all his friends to the swimming pool or the skating rink every weekend. She would take her newspaper and stay where they were to make sure they behaved themselves and were safely returned home at the end of the evening. Mary Lib was preceded in death by her loving son, Thomas Harold Glasgow, Jr. who went to be with Jesus on February 29th, 2020; parents, Harvey Milton and Lenora Felton Parker; brothers, Thomas Parker, Joseph Parker, Robert Parker and infant, Lonnie Milton Parker and her sisters, Ruth Eleanor Parker Tew Elliott, Sally Irene Parker Senter, Margaret Ann Parker Meeks and infant sisters, Dorothy Dalton Parker and Joyce Parker. A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, August, 17, 2020 at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5854 Shiloh Church Road, Wilson.
