Mary Elizabeth Pulley Hodges August 30, 1932 – December 2, 2016 Mary Elizabeth Pulley Hodges, 84, of Wilson, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was a native of Warsaw, Virginia, the daughter of the late, Elizabeth Mahoney Pulley and Lloyd C. Pulley. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia and graduated from Pan American Business School in Richmond, Virginia. She worked at the Virginia Dept. of Highways. She was an avid tennis player who loved watching her children and grandchildren play, near or far. Her kind and loving personality was one that immediately lit up a room, always comforting those around her. She was known to everyone as “Bebe”. The visitation for friends and family will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3rd at the home of Fred and Cammy Hodges, 3216 Woodlawn Road, Rocky Mount. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount and reception to follow on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. by The Rev. Mary Kathleen Duncan. A private service will be held at Hollywood Cemetery at a later date. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Murchison Hodges, Jr., son, Frank Stephenson Hodges, and daughter, Mary Lloyd Hodges Barbera. She is survived by her sister Barbara Pulley Sarrett of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sons, Fred Murchison Hodges III and wife, Sara Camden Bailey Hodges of Rocky Mount and Jonathan Worth Hodges and wife, Melissa Whytsell Hodges of Wilson; son-in-law, Robert Earl Barbera; two grandchildren, Sara Worth Hodges of Greensboro and Thomas Stephenson Hodges of Wilson. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to NC Tennis Foundation, 2709 Henry Street, Greensboro, North Carolina 27405, the First Presbyterian Church, 153 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina 27804, or the First Presbyterian Church, 414 Sunset Road, NW, Wilson, North Carolina 27893.
