Mary Ellen Driver Stallings August 20, 1924 – October 21, 2015 Mary Ellen Driver Stallings, 91, of Middlesex, beloved wife of the late Oris Zack Stallings, passed away peacefully Wednesday, surrounded by her loving family. Her funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday evening at Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, Middlesex. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in Lee’s Chapel Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Larry Crowe will officiate. The family will receive friends 5 – 6:45 p.m. Friday evening prior to the service at Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, 14518 Taylors Mill Road, Middlesex and other times at the home. Mary Ellen was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she was treasurer, a member of the choir and taught Sunday school as a faithful servant to God. She worked for years and retired from Stallings Brothers, Inc. as an administrative assistant, her second career after raising her four children. Mary Ellen was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her. Her favorite times were working in her yard and frying chicken for her family. Mary Ellen was greatly loved and will be thought of often with memories that will warm the heart and bring smiles. Mary Ellen is survived by her sons, Timothy Zack Stallings and wife, Brenda of Middlesex, Randy Oris Stallings and Carla Batten, and Jeffery Driver Stallings and wife, Cheri of Middlesex; her daughter, Sue Stallings Whiteley and husband, James Whiteley of Wilmington; her grandsons, Tracy Stallings and wife, Amber of Middlesex, Zack Stallings and wife, Marcie of Middlesex, and Alex Stallings; her granddaughters, Jessica Whiteley Gries and husband, Marcus of Wilmington, and Sara Whiteley of Wilmington; her great grandsons, Dillon Stallings and Cayman Stallings; her great granddaughters, Elizabeth Killian and husband, Brian, Brittany Stallings, Emmy Gries and Elin Gries; great great-granddaughter, Marissa Killian; brother, Bill Driver of Wendell and her sister, Dorothy Page of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Stallings; her parents Steven and Nellie Driver, and her brothers, Howard Driver and Hayden Driver. The family would like to express their gratitude to Sadie Meacombs-Whitfield, Pearline Allen, Lois Strickland and Gail Thorne for their expression of love and the care that they provided. A special thank you for Dr. Shelly West, for her outstanding dedication and care of her patient.
