Mary Mitchell Poythress July 20, 1933 – December 12, 2015 Mary Ann Mitchell Poythress, 82, of Wilson passed away Saturday. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Dean Etheridge will officiate. The family will receive friends at Mary’s home following the service. Mary is survived by her daughters, Vickie Anning of Wilson, and Kathy House of Jacksonville; her granddaughters, Christy Gurgone of Wilson, Kimberly Ivey of Bailey, and Lisa Morris of Chocowinity; her grandsons, Todd Sutton of Wilson, and Clay Anning of Wilson; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lila Shealey of Elm City, Margaret Dochterman and husband, Herbert of Pinetops, Joyce Adams of Kenly, and Evelyn Mitchell of Swansboro, and brother, Leonard Mitchell of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Marion Poythress; her daughter, Suzzette Sutton; son, Larry Evans; her parents, Eugene and Effie Bedford Mitchell; sister, Patricia Gower, and brother, James Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Wilson Community Church, 2301 Montgomery Drive, Wilson, North Carolina 27893 to aid in the adoption for Christy and Jimmy Gurgone.
