Mason Scott Bennett

Mason Scott Bennett, 22, from Walstonburg, NC passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in Wilson, NC. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 9 at 6:00 pm at Joyner's Funeral Home with visitation to immediately follow.  Mason was a graduate of Wilson Early College Academy, Wilson Community College, and was currently attending Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC. He was employed as a barista at Starbucks.

Mason loved to read, bike, and listen to music of all types. He was a devoted son and big brother, as well as a loyal friend. He was a champion for the underdog and the misunderstood.

Mason was born in Moultrie, GA June 14, 2000. He is survived by his father and mother, Barry and Lisa Bennett; his younger brother, Lane, all of Walstonburg, NC; grandparents, Greg and Ann Waites of Norman Park, GA, Debbie Waites of Adel, GA, and Roy and Dawn Bennett of Meigs, GA; great-grandparents, E.L. “Mann” Waites  and Carolyn Waites, of Norman Park, GA.  Mason also leaves behind uncles, Blake Bennett (Stephanie) of Americus, GA and Brandon Bennett (Paige) of Ashburn, GA; aunts, Shelby Johnson (Eric) of Odessa, TX and Jeanie Salter (Ray) of Sumner, GA; cousins, Zoe Dickson, Perry Bennett, Brayden Bock, Addison Bennett, and Riley Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Niles Gengenbach.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his honor to Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition in Wilson County, NC or to the Greene County Animal Shelter in Snow Hill, NC.
