Matthew Helfer, Sr.

Matthew Helfer, Sr. of Wilson passed away on Sunday, July 23.  A private graveside service will be held for the family.  Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 27 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. 

Matthew is survived by his son, Matthew Helfer, Jr. of Wilson; Kaitlyn Tagney, mother of Matthew Helfer, Jr. of Wilson; mother, Debbie Butts and husband, Hank Butts; father, Zev Helfer; brothers, Daniel Helfer and fiancé, Jennifer Torres of Lexington, KY, Jonathan Helfer and wife, Ella of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Tal Helfer of Plantation, FL; sister, Karen Magen and husband, Yoav of Israel; step-brother, Logan Butts of Wilson; maternal grandmother, Lydia T. Phillips and husband, Alan of Wilson; maternal grandfather, Charlie Clark and wife, Carolyn of Oxford, FL; and step-grandparents, Dennis and SoYoung Cobb of Wilson.

Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Max and Anka Helfer of Israel and maternal grandparents, Lee McFarland and Dee of Hollister, MD.
