Maude Tyson Pope

Maude Tyson Pope, 93, of Sims passed away Wednesday. Her funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Farmington Heights Church, 910 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Erwin Memorial Park, 506 W A Street, Erwin. The Rev. LaVon Phillips will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 – 5:45 p.m. at Farmington Heights Church, Wilson and other times at the home of Anthony’s.
Maude was born in Nash County in 1924; she was one of six children in a farming family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who impacted the life of everyone she met. Maude and her husband, Rev. Pope served together in ministry for over forty years, pastoring churches across North Carolina.
Maude is survived by her daughter, Starr P. Marshall and husband, Ed of Sims; her sons, William Paul Pope, III and wife, Kaye of Whiteville, George Thomas “Tommy” Pope and wife, Laura of Erwin, Donald Reid Pope and wife, Nelda of Fayetteville, and Anthony Tyson Pope and wife, Teresa of Wilson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and her sister, Josephine Lamm of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Paul Pope, Jr., and two sisters and two brothers.
