Mazie Davis Ellis

Mazie Davis Ellis February 15, 1913 – January 23, 2016 Mazie Davis Ellis, 102, of Wilson passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate. Brenda will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. Mazie was Brenda’s co-pilot; she loved spending time and traveling with her. She was a member of the American Legion for over sixty-eight years. She had a green thumb; her yard was beautiful and she could grow anything. Mazie was a beautiful lady that loved the simple life and her friends. Mazie is survived by her daughter, Brenda Ellis-Massey of Wilson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Massey; her parents, Henry and Katie Mumford Davis; seven sisters, and four brothers. Brenda would like to thank Helen, Marjorie, and Lisa for their love, compassion and care for Mazie in her final years.
