Meta King Moore Melchior

Meta King Moore Melchior June 21, 1950 – January 21, 2015 Meta King Moore Melchior, born on June 21, 1950, passed away January 21, 2015. Meta is the beloved wife of August “BB” Shelby Melchior of Wilson, and the cherished mother of August S. Melchior, Jr. (Danielle) and Frank M. Melchior. Meta is the sister of Larry I. Moore, III of Greensboro, Craige R. Moore of Wilson and Frances H. Moore of Asheville. Her parents Grace Thompson Moore and Larry I. Moore, Jr. and her sister Grace T. Moore predeceased her. Meta graduated from Fike High School in 1968, attended Stratford College and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1972. She loved the water; the beach was one of her favorite places to be. An avid gardener and cook, she was always sharing her flowers and favorite foods with her friends and family. She was a teacher for more than thirty years, most recently as the fourth grade teacher and Lower School Coordinator at Greenfield. She touched so many lives with her humor, wisdom and grace. Visitation will be at Joyner’s Funeral Home Friday, January 23, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilson at 11:00 a.m. A reception in the Dudley Room will follow the service.
