Michael Newton Watson

Michael Newton Watson July 12, 1960 – February 14, 2016 Michael Newton Watson, of Elm City passed away Sunday. His memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 5142 Hwy 58 North, Wilson. The Rev. Steve Stephenson will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday immediately following the service at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and other times at the home of his mother, Joan. Michael never met a stranger and would always help his friends or anyone that needed help. He was a loving father, son, brother and friend and Michael will be greatly missed and thought of often. Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Watson of Wilson; his daughters, Lea Watson and Heather Boykin both of Wilson, and Amanda Watson of Charlotte; his step-daughter, Jessie Mattern and husband, Robert of Wilson; granddaughter, Emma Bolt; grandson, Jacob Boykin; his mother, Joan N. Flowers and step-father, Charles B. Flowers of Elm City; his brother, Ricky Watson and wife, Tammy of Myrtle Beach, and his sister, Terry Wiggs of Wilmington. He was preceded in death by his father, Gurney Gene Watson.
