Nancy Billings Tyson

Nancy Billings Tyson, 82 of Saratoga passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children Sunday. Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a strong-willed woman who fought a hard fight until the bittersweet end. She loved her family with all of her heart and always put everyone before herself. Nancy spent fifty-four years as a dental hygienist after receiving her schooling from UNC Chapel Hill, she attended high school at Pittsboro High.

She was a long time pianist/organist at Stantonsburg United Methodist Church and a member of the Wilson First United Methodist Volunteers in Mission and Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held graveside in Evergreen Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11 o’clock in the morning. The service will be conducted by Rev. Steve Little.

The family will receive friends at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson NC on Tuesday from 6pm – 8pm.

Nancy is survived by her sons; Seth Hawkins Tyson VI (Lisa), Harry Tyson (Lee); daughter, Julia Tyson Bass (Chris); sister, Emily Smith; grandchildren, Anna Tyson Parris (Hunter), Abigail Tyson, Matthew Tyson, Seth Tyson, Tyson Bass and Ryan Bass.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Seth Hawkins Tyson V and her parents, Harris and Sarah Billings.

In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested that memorials be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2841 Daisy Lane N, Ste.E, Wilson NC, 27896, so they can “provide care to the others like they did me”.
