Nellie Gray Shadding Edwards
September 30, 1934 – April 21, 2016
Nellie Gray Shadding Edwards, 81, of Elm City passed away Thursday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Sam Cullifer will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Nellie Gray was a faithful member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church where she served her Lord with honor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all that knew her. Nellie Gray was dearly loved by all and will be missed and thought of often with memories that will warm the heart.
Nellie Gray is survived by her daughter, Gail Edwards Smith and husband, Ben of Fountain; her sons, Pastor Rex Edwards and wife, Martha of Wilson and Andy Edwards of the home; her granddaughters, Rexanne Edwards, Mandy Edwards, Tabitha Bailey, Michelle Smith; her grandson, Adam Edwards; and great-grandchildren, Trevor Toler, Brett Toler, Brianna Edwards, Joshua Bailey, Walker Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Blake Edwards, Mason Bailey, Skylar Bailey, and Stephen Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Wilson Edwards; parents, Carl and Emma Shadding, and brothers, T.J. Shadding and Carlton “Bud” Ray Shadding.
