Hazel Daniel Deans passed away at the age of 97 on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
A native of Wilson, NC, she was the youngest of six children born to the late Addie and Albert Daniel. She was the wife of the late L.C. Deans, Jr. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lillie Belle Daniel, Ethel Fulghum, Annie Mae Daniel, and brothers Thomas Daniel, and Archie Daniel.
She was a graduate of Hardbarger’s Business College in Raleigh, NC. In her earlier years she worked at State Capital Life Insurance Company in Raleigh, NC and Branch Banking and Trust Company of Wilson. She loved to travel. She accompanied her children to over 30 countries around the world and nearly every state in the US.
She was a longtime active member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught children’s Sunday school, served as communion steward, and volunteered in the church office.
Survivors include three daughters, Candace Deans of Richmond, VA, Amy Davis of Wake Forest, NC and Emily Innes and husband Randy of Wake Forest, NC. She has one grandson, Daniel Davis and wife Elizabeth of Raleigh, NC and three great-grandchildren, Rylee, Addie and Dylan. She also has a special nephew, Al Daniel and wife Linda of Wilson, NC.
A funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, following a time of visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Wilson, NC. Rev. Claire Colcord and
Rev. John Winings will officiate.
