Philip John Bateman

Philip John Bateman June 27, 1967 – August 4, 2015 Philip John Bateman, 48, of Wilson passed away Tuesday. His funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Joe Shakour will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. John was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He loved RC planes and was an avid Duke fan. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and watching them play sports. John was greatly loved and will be missed and thought of often with memories that will bring smiles and warm the heart. John is survived by his wife, Paula Herndon Bateman of the home; his sons, Colin John Bateman and Garrett Paul Bateman of the home; his parents, Philip Calvin and Mary Lu Abbott Bateman of Wilson; his sister, Stephanie Ruth of Elm City; his niece, Taylor Barnes of Elm City, and his in-laws, Jerry and Romona Herndon of Wilson.
