Ralph Batten
January 22, 1935 – April 22, 2018
Ralph Batten, 83, of the Crocker’s Nub community passed away Sunday. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Zion FWB Church Cemetery, 9300 Johnson Farm Road, Kenly. The Rev. Braxton Carter will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning at 10 – 10:45 a.m. at Mt. Zion FWB Church, Kenly and other times at the home.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Margaret Murray Batten of the home; his daughters, Brenda Batten Hall and husband, Stanley of Middlesex, and Ann Batten Bush and husband, Bill of Wilson; son, Johnnie Ralph Batten of Rocky Mount; granddaughters, Leslie Batten King and husband, Will of Kenly, and Gwen Hall Hinnant and husband, Stephen of Middlesex; his special guardian granddaughter, Harley Brown of Kenly; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sisters, Jean Narron, Judy Raper, and Martha Pittman all of Kenly, and Jessie Lee Atkinson of Zebulon, and his brothers, J.P. Batten of Wilson, and C.D. Batten of Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Nedis Boykin Batten; sister, Doris Horne, and brother, A.B. Batten.
